Sarah Busis MD
Dr. Sarah Busis grew up in the Philadelphia area and has called Philadelphia home for most of her life. At just four years old, she announced that she wanted to be a pediatrician when she grew up.
Dr. Busis earned her B.A. in Biological Basis of Behavior, with a minor in Anthropology, from the University of Pennsylvania. After college, she spent two years at the National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda, Maryland, as a research assistant in the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program. She then returned to Philadelphia to attend medical school at the University of Pennsylvania.
During medical school, Dr. Busis volunteered in shelters, providing medical care to children and families experiencing homelessness. These experiences strengthened her desire to care for children and families and helped shape her belief in the importance of compassionate, comprehensive pediatric care.
Dr. Busis completed her pediatric residency at Thomas Jefferson University and Nemours A.I. duPont Hospital for Children, where she discovered her passion for primary care. She especially enjoys getting to know children and their families over time, watching children grow and develop, and partnering with parents through all of the different stages of childhood. She joined South Philadelphia Pediatrics in 2011 and is board certified in pediatrics. She currently serves as a managing partner of the practice.
Outside of the office, Dr. Busis loves spending time with her husband and their three boys. She enjoys creating adventures with her family, whether they are reading together, playing board games, exploring Philadelphia, playing in the park, cheering from the sidelines at her boys’ sports games, or spending summer days down the shore. She feels fortunate to be raising her family and caring for children in the Philadelphia community she has called home for so many years.
