After Hours

South Philadelphia Pediatrics has convenient weekday daytime and evening office hours . Please call us during these hours to make an appointment . We are also able to offer video visits on weekends at the discretion of the on-call physician.

We are available for urgent matters at any time.

When you call us after hours a physician calls you back! Please keep in mind that our physicians are taking call from home. We don’t use call centers or intermediaries to screen calls. At any time, if your child is experiencing a life threatening medical problem, call 911. Please see our emergencies page for some tips on what is an emergency.

After hours, if you have an urgent question or concern, call the office and you will be prompted to leave a message. If you need help deciding if you should go to the emergency room please choose the emergency mailbox and you will receive a call back within 15 minutes. For all other urgent questions that cannot wait until the office reopens, please choose the urgent mailbox. This mailbox is monitored daily until 10 pm and you will receive a call back within 2 hours.

For either mailbox, please follow these simple steps:

  • Speak slowly and clearly
  • Leave your name and your child’s name
  • Give your phone number and repeat it a second time
  • Disable any privacy blocks that may be on your phone line.

Our website has abundant information regarding common childhood illnesses and medication dosing. You can also visit our Patient Portal to look up information about your child, request refills of medication, and ask routine, non-urgent questions. Questions via the Patient Portal will receive a response in 2-3 business days.

Please note: Phone calls for medical advice or discussion about your child's health with one of our clinicians may also incur a charge that will be billed to your insurance company based on the length of the call. Some insurance companies pass this charge on to the patients.
