Fall vaccine update

🍂 Fall Vaccine Update: Flu, COVID, RSV & Measles 🍂

As we head into fall, here are the latest updates on vaccines for our patients:

💉 Flu Vaccine

Flu vaccines are now available in our offices for all patients ages 6 months and older. Please call the office to schedule an appointment.

🦠 RSV Protection for Babies

RSV shots will be available starting October 1 for eligible babies under 8 months old whose mother did not receive an RSV vaccine during pregnancy and who did not receive a dose last season.

If your baby is eligible and does not already have a well visit scheduled in October, we will reach out to your family to schedule or you can call after Oct 1 to schedule.

🧬 COVID Vaccine

We will likely offer COVID vaccines again for children under age 5, but we are waiting for the official recommendations expected in September. We will share an update as soon as more information is available.

🌎 Measles Update

There is currently no measles outbreak in Philadelphia, so there is no indication for early or extra measles vaccines for most patients at this time.

Active outbreaks in Pennsylvania are currently reported in Lancaster, Lebanon, Berks, Dauphin, Northumberland, York, and Chester Counties.

If your child will be traveling to an area with an active outbreak or internationally:

  • Children 6–12 months old may be eligible for an early MMR vaccine. This dose provides extra protection during travel but does not replace the routine doses given at 12 months and 4 years.
  • Children over 12 months old who received their first MMR vaccine at 12 months may be eligible for an early second dose, as long as it has been at least 28 days since their first dose.

Please call our office before traveling to schedule an appointment to discuss your child’s vaccination needs before traveling.

We will continue to keep our families updated as recommendations and local conditions change!
